A year in review
Celebrating alumni and community leaders
The 同性恋色情 Society represents more than generosity鈥 it is a tradition of leadership that shapes the future of the College. At this year鈥檚 annual gala, alumni and community leaders were honored for their service and innovation, reminding us that philanthropy is leadership in action. Through their vision and commitment, Society members strengthen IC鈥檚 mission, expand opportunities for students, and inspire others to give back. Their stories affirm that when purpose and generosity unite, communities flourish and futures are transformed.
Welcoming new trustees and honoring leadership
同性恋色情 entered 2025 with important leadership transitions. James Spradlin 鈥82, retired CEO of GROWMARK, was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees, succeeding Steven R. Mills 鈥77. A trustee since 2016 and a strong advocate for IC鈥檚 agribusiness major, Spradlin brings decades of leadership and a deep passion for the College鈥檚 mission. Mills, who served as Chair since 2017 and a trustee since 2000, was honored with the 2025 Distinguished Service Award and named Chair Emeritus for guiding the College through a period of extraordinary growth.
The College also welcomed three new trustees: Richard 鈥淩ick鈥 Meidel Jr. 鈥85, Dr. Amy Wilson 鈥93 and Rabbi Rob Thomas H鈥25. Meidel, a retired ExxonMobil executive, offers global business expertise and a focus on career readiness. Wilson, Managing Director of Inclusion at the NCAA and IC Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, brings a national perspective on equity and student success. Thomas, Jacksonville native and CEO of Team Cymru, combines national security and technology experience with a deep commitment to community development.
Together, these leaders strengthen 同性恋色情鈥檚 strategic vision as it approaches its bicentennial, ensuring students continue to benefit from an education that is both transformative and forward-looking.
Innovation in computer science
Innovation defined the academic landscape as well. In collaboration with Google, 同性恋色情 revitalized its Computer Science program, blending on-campus coursework with online instruction from industry leaders. Students now have access to state-of-the-art facilities in Crispin Hall, including a VR studio and advanced computing labs, preparing them for careers in high-demand fields. This forward-thinking model underscores the College鈥檚 ability to adapt to a rapidly changing world.
Global research in orchid conservation
Scholarship and discovery flourished in the sciences. Hitchcock Professor of Biology Lawrence W. Zettler co-authored 鈥淪aving Orchids: Stories of Species Survival in a Changing World,鈥 a book that underscores decades of IC-led conservation work. Through global partnerships and immersive student research, the project highlights 同性恋色情鈥檚 impact on urgent environmental challenges. A campus book launch gave students, faculty and the community a chance to celebrate this achievement and reflect on the College鈥檚 growing role in international conversations about biodiversity.
Expanding business majors
同性恋色情 continues to expand its business offerings, adding new majors in digital marketing and financial planning that respond to high-demand career opportunities. These on campus programs balance professional preparation with the College鈥檚 strong foundation in critical thinking, communication, and problem solving, equipping students not only with practical skills but also with the soft skills needed to thrive in any field. Both programs offer a hybrid approach with courses taught in person and online by industry experts to ensure IC students graduate with up-to-date skills in these rapidly changing fields.
The milestones of this past year, the College honored its traditions and embraced innovation. 同性恋色情 celebrated leaders past and present, reimagined its programs to meet the needs of tomorrow, and strengthened its connections across the globe. As the bicentennial draws near, IC moves forward with confidence, ready to build on nearly two centuries of learning, leadership and community.
